An upgrade of the busy intersection of the Federal Highway and Old Well Station Road is underway to install traffic lights for improved safety.
For this reason the intersection of the Federal Highway and Old Well Station rd will be closed from Monday 7 May 2018 until July (date TBC).
To access the Farmers Markets as well as the top of EPIC, patrons will have to travel along Flemington Rd and turn right onto Morriset Rd then right into the first gate (next to the shipping containers), or right at the Old Well Station Rd Gate, or entry at Stirling Ave and walk to the markets through the pedestrian gate.

The project is expected to deliver:
- Installation of four-way traffic signals to improve safety.
- Widening and realignment of the pavement on the Old Well Station Road approach to improve sight lines and increase right turn capacity.
- Increasing the length of the left and right turn lanes on the Federal Highway approach to cater for anticipated traffic demands.
- A new footpath on the east side of Old Well Station Road to improve access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Works to upgrade this intersection will be coordinated with the light rail project to minimise traffic disruption.
Construction is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2018.
